THE STORY

The Tuskegee Airmen

Who They Were

The Tuskegee Airmen were all personnel involved in the “Tuskegee Experience”: the Army Air Corps Program to train the first African Americans to fly and maintain combat aircraft. The Tuskegee Airmen included Pilots, Navigators, Bombardiers, Maintenance and Support Staff, Instructors, and every other personnel who kept the planes in the air.

Brief History

Virtually all of the Tuskegee Airmen have passed away, however, their legacy MUST live on by knowing and sharing their heroic service. There is so much more to be told about these brave men and women’s contributions, which helped win World War II. Consider joining a local chapter of Tuskegee Airmen Inc. There are two local chapters, Detroit and West Bloomfield.
